Here’s an interesting stat: the National Retail Federation shows that 40% of shoppers start their holiday shopping before Halloween. So if you’re not prepared for the holiday season by October 1st, you’re missing out! But what is the best online marketing strategy for the holidays?
Here are 7 tips to get you ready for the holiday season:
1 – Figure out what holidays you’d like to run promotions for and what those promotions should be (such as a coupon for 25% off, or buy 1 get 1 free, etc…). It’s ideal to plan this annually for the entire year and then adjust as you go. But for the main holiday season you really need to be prepared by September 1st.
2 – Create leaderboard banners for your website to promote the holiday. You can also create landing pages for your website if needed, but in many cases, the leaderboard banner will do the job just fine.
3 – Write the ad copy and design all the ads for the holiday promo. Match your leaderboard banner design. Design ads for all your major marketing channels (Google, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc..)
4 – Design email template for the holiday promo. These should also match the leaderboard banner and ad designs (are you sensing a theme?)
5 – Determine when you want the holiday campaign to run and what daily budget you’d like to invest.
6 – Put somebody in charge of taking the campaign live (activating coupons, adding leaderboard banners, activating the ads, sending the emails, etc..) and, just as importantly – taking everything down at the scheduled time.
7 – Record your results and make adjustments for the next holiday. Save your assets! This will save you a lot of time and effort next year.
By following this process you’ll be organized and prepared well before the holiday seasons so you’re not rushing things at the last minute. This will put you ahead of the curve and help you drive more sales!
